WHAT DOES F2 POMSKY MEAN? F1? F3?

Pomsky generations explained.

Do generations matter? Not really. It’s just a way of understanding pedigrees for breeders mostly. There isn’t any generation of pomsky that is better than another kind. An F1 pomsky means that they are a first generation pomsky; meaning that their mother is a purebred siberian husky and their dad is a purebred pomeranian. Naturally, that would mean an F2 is a second generation, as in, their parents are both F1 pomskies. F4 and up is usually just termed as “multi-generational pomskies”, where they already come from a decent line of pomsky lineage.

What is is an F2b pomsky? The “b” implies a throwback, meaning, they have decided to breed a pomsky to a purebred pomeranian or a husky.

What is an F2X pomsky? The “x” implies an outcross to an approved third spitz breed to further AKC recognition as dictated by the American Pomsky Kennel Club, which currently as of 2024, is only the American Eskimo.
