DO POMSKIES NEED GROOMING?

Yes, pomskies need grooming. They lightly shed all year and heavily shed their undercoat twice a year seasonally. However, grooming a pomsky is very easy, inexpensive, and you can do it yourself at home. All you need is a metal comb & slicker brush. Simply separate sections of hair and comb from the root and outward until tangles are gone. The slicker brush then acts as a wonderful follow-up tool to get any excess hair off. The only part of a pomsky that needs semi-regular cutting/trimming is a sanitary trim or extra ‘grinch’ fluff on their paws as needed.
Avoid tools such as furminators as they will damage your pomsky’s coat. Shoot us a message if you have any grooming questions!

Recommendation: To avoid matting - Wooly coated pomskies should be brushed/combed every 2 days or so. Plush coats should be brushed/combed once a week. Standard coated pomskies need very little to no grooming at all.

How often should you bathe a pomsky: You only need to bathe your pomsky about once every 2-3 months (more often in the hotter summer months). This is because of how well-designed their double coat is, and also, how prone their arctic-ancestry skin can be to becoming overly dried when their hair and natural oils are cleansed/removed too often. We recommend a high-quality fish oil supplement that tests for heavy metals to help if your pomsky skin is dry.
